ARTWORK - 5 Sets > Homage to the Women of Gees Bend |

Quilt Compositions

I have used my own designs exclusively in this work - painting them in the studio, and scanning them into my computer. There I could manipulate them and print them for use in my collages. I have combined a variety of paper sizes and designs spontaneously – not knowing where the constructions would lead. Sometimes I used glue – sometimes needle and thread. Always I worked quickly – and enjoyed the spontaneous results.

I have repeatedly been inspired by the quilts made by the women from Gee’s Bend Alabama – and have been fascinated with their examples of balance, color, and composition.
