From My Mother's Garden
This is a series about my Mother, who died in 2005.
My Mother had a beautiful English garden when I was growing up. It was huge, stately, and full of the most amazing flowers. Delphinium, Peonies, Lillies, Bachelor Buttons, Cosmos, Campanula, and Iris are some that I remember.
My Mother and I had a rather complicated relationship but a large connection point, I seen in retrospect, was through our aesthetics. Her garden was just one of the beautiful things she created. I loved the beauty that she nurtured in our home and in our surroundings. She tended everything with a sense of refined style and sophisticated taste...
These are not meant to be flowers from her beautiful garden, but my homage to her and her efforts to make our family's world a place where art and beauty had a prominent role, that enhanced our family's quality of life.
